Leon Sarantos’s “Dawn Twilight - The Sun, The Moon, The Stars” triptych is currently on view in the Directions exhibition at Paul Henry’s Art Gallery (416 Sibley Street, Hammond, Indiana)
It’s based on my memories of traveling in the High Sierra Mountains. In this artwork I used a sharp contrast of dark and light, and the fusion of the shading with the shadows, so that the eye registers the high values as an abstract shape on a bed of dark values.
I was very pleased to receive Special Recognition for this painting in The Elements Art Exhibition on the Online Gallery — Light, Space & Time.
Medium: Oil on canvas, W 108 X H 24 inches
This painting and my other landscapes are at my website.
