Don’t miss BEYOND CAGE Festival, opening on Monday, October 22 at Carnegie Hall, when The Orchestra of the S.E.M. will present Cage’s Atlas Eclipticalis with Winter Music, heard together in their complete version for the first time (Ursula Oppens and Joseph Kubera, pianists).
Running in multiple NYC venues until November 7, BEYOND CAGE Festival will feature Cage’s most significant and rarely heard works and span three generations, from Cage’s close associates (Morton Feldman, Christian Wolff and Earle Brown) to young emerging composers to display the composer’s broad and lasting influence on the music of our times. It isn’t just one more Cage event, but most likely the last time NY audiences will be able to hear performances and discussions of Cage’s music on such a large scale by the generation that worked with him.
Tickets begin at $15.
