It’s been interesting to see such renowned artists as Marlene Dumas and William Kentridge, whose work is usually imbued with such specific and often political experiences of South Africa, create these posters that will undoubtedly have a much more popular (in the non-art world following sense) reception. Hopefully, more people will be introduced to their work, but the posters seem desensitized to many of the larger issues the artists’ work usually depicts. Which was to be expected, I suppose, for better or for worse.
