Man Bartlett’s #24hCycle Asks What Do Laundry & News Have in Common
What: #24hCycle
Who: Man Bartlett
Where: Flux Factory in Long Island City (directions)
When: Fri, August 13th - Sat August 14th, 8pm-8pm
Sure, this is one of the cleanest performance pieces you’ll ever witness. Though performance artists Natalia Mali, Rob Andrews, and Peter Dobill have also tried their hands at various types of cleaning-related performances, Bartlett is making it clear he is drawing parallels with the endless internet & cable news cycles — and I assume — all of their metaphoric associations.
“#24hCycle” (2010) begs the question: “when does it end?” For those of us caught in the gravitation pull of news as broadcast through mobile devices that tether us to the online world, the answer is: “probably never.”
Hyperallergic will definitely be tuned in.
What do the news and laundry have in common? Probably nothing! But we’ll be tasked to see how the two play together…over the course of 24 hours in August.
#24hCycle is envisioned as an absurdist summer party, a communal laundry washing experience, and a reading/discussion of the most…
